After high school I went to UND for a couple years on & off. Played in bands in town (Uncle Jack, Train) and at the U. Probably was the last person that should play drums. Didn't come easy for me to learn but I sure tried hard. I got a chance to join a band in the Twin Cities so I got out of town in 1974. Grand Forks was alot of fun, maybe TOO much fun. It was time to move on. That band fell apart and I went to work at Midway Chevrolet in St. Paul. I had worked as a parts runner at Rydel Chevrolet in G.F. Was fed up with the band stuff. I did well at the Chevy dealership and became the Parts Manager @9 years after I started there. Not long after I started I was asked to play in a band again to fill in for their drummer that was injured. I told them I didn't want to play music any more. They couldn't get anyone else so they called me back. I gave in and said O.K. Well, it seems I just needed to be in the right band with the right people. I've been with The Minnesota Barking Ducks for 35 years now. Very good band and experience in life. I'm still trying to get the hang of playing drums and tell people a couple more years and I'll have it figured out!
I have two daughters, both grown, that still live close by and we see often. I have been married to my wife Suzanne for 32+ years. We have traveled alot over the years. Several time to Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, Caribian Islands, but mostly just checking out America lately. It's a beautiful and diverse country. Last week we were in the Smokie Mountains with the daughters along also. Loved the countryside and the national park.
Midway Chevrolet where I worked for 33 years was one of the 1st GM dealerships to go out of business when the economy turned slow. GM helped close it down but poor management also contributed. I was unemployed for 1 day short of the six month limit and I got two job ofers in one day. Went from hopeless to blessed. I have been working at Freindly Chev for two & a half years now. Oddly enough I'm back at a Rydell owned dealership. I still play in the band. I started carving walking sticks and making leather bags this last winter for something different to do. And for 30+ years I have been restoring classic bicycles. I have 53 bikes. That's alot of peddling.

My wife Suzanne and I December 09' with the 70 year old tobaggon I rescued from someones trash. Stripped, refinished, waxed and ready to go. I'm having trouble getting any participants to join me. This would have been a "hit" at Lincoln Park!
