UND Education building being renovated

This Friday (May 14) is the last day to tour the UND Education building before it is renovated (majorly).

From UND:

Visit Education Building one last time before renovations begin next week

The University will host the last tours of its Education Building before renovation of the building begins. We especially invite our retired faculty and staff and former students. The last day to tour the building will be Friday, May 14.

"We are approaching a transitional moment in the history of the college this week," said Dan Rice, dean of the College of Education and Human Development. "Beginning Monday, May 17, the Education Building will be closed and the salvaging will begin. The building that we have known it has existed for 56 years will be changed forever."

At noon on Friday, those who would like to will gather on the front steps (west end) of the Education Building for a brief "goodbye" to the old building.

"In about 15 months," Rice continued, "we look forward to coming back to a 21st century learning space that will serve us and future generations for decades to come."

The groundbreaking for the building project is scheduled for Friday, June 4, at 11 a.m., and will take place in the space between the Education Building and Gillette Hall. JLG Architects of Grand Forks is designing and coordinating the project. For more information on the project, visit www.edbuilding.und.edu. -- Education.
